The main objective is to promote, support and uphold the importance and role of the pharmaceutical microbiologist as a key professional within the pharmaceutical industry, and allied industries. In addition to this it will:
- Advance the science of microbiology and its practical application within the pharmaceutical industry, allied industries and educational institutions.
- Organise meetings, exhibitions, symposia, training workshops and an annual conference that will provide information and views on a range of pharmaceutical microbiology topics.
- Seek to influence the development of regulations and guidelines concerning pharmaceutical microbiology and related disciplines.
- Work towards setting an 'Industry Standard' where no legal limit or specification exists for a particular test.
- Act as a confidential forum for dissemination of information concerning all aspects of pharmaceutical microbiology.
- Foster and encourage a spirit of friendly co-operation among the Members of the Group.
- Promote and develop all aspects of Quality Management and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Actively encourage continuing professional development of its Members.
